Many of my readers would have read my initial thoughts on Lenovo 3000 Y410, so here I am almost a year on with some of my mixed thoughts on it. First major performance hardware wise its been good. The only gripe was the dvd burner which has to be replaced because of its awful noise but the replacement became a joke when the service center guys replaced it with a combo drive . After some minor hassling with Lenovo Support I got it replaced at my office itself since the nearest Lenovo center is 70 kms away. Now I’ve problem with card reader which I think has some broken part (think its my fault) which I hope to get it replaced. I am also hoping to get a 2 year warranty extension for Rs. 5,500/- (110$) which doesn’t cover battery and adaptor mainly in lieu of the problems I had this previous months.

Even though I didn’t this type of problems with my Acer TravelMate , the Lenovo build quality has so far been quite excellent and their service support seems impeccable. And this also been a year with Windows Vista Home Basic which came preloaded with it . I haven’t even formatted it once even though its sometimes Buggy behaviour has tested my patience more than once in this past year. I was thinking about upgrading it to Home Premium but it sounds expensive and the ever increasing news of Windows 7 and various Linux flavors like Ubuntu, Fedora has made me think twice. If you have your own thoughts / issues to share with please do post your comments :-)

What would I wished my lenovo 3000 y410 had : A internal microphone, a faster processor and to top it all a graphics card [ wishful thinking I know :-) ]
