I’ve already written a small piece on Yahoo Go !! . But for a last few weeks I haven’t been impressed by Yahoo Mail services so I was gradually shifting my mails to GMail. I’ve read and heard about Google’s Mobile products but personally I havent tried till the last 10 days.
The first thing I tried was GMail’s java app, which is a no Non-Sense just like the actual web based GMail interface. It has all the basic functionalities which comes in the web based interface and more than that its best feature is that it allows to view our mails offline (how many mails or how far in the thread i haven’t yet found exactly) but it works offline. And attachments like doc, ppt, pdf , excel can also be viewed without the pictures and any fancy stuff ,which is inside it just plain old text.
One downer was that it didn’t allow me to download sound (mp3/wma) or movie files to be downloaded onto the phone.
But the main difference between Google Mobile & Yahoo Go ! is that google mobile is almost a full suite of wap applications for your phone browser. I tried out Orkut (i was able to see scraps & friend’s updates) and picasa (where I was able to see my photo gallery) whereas Yahoo Go is a full fledged java application (which i will cover in another post about Go 3.0)
