2009 has come and continuing from 2008 the economic slowdown and job cuts & pay cuts will have taken a toll on everybody’s gadget & gizmo shopping. But there are some trends , technologies I am looking forward to this New Year…

  1. NetBooksacer-aspireI’ve seen 2 to 3 of my friends using a Acer Aspire One, most of them as a portable office tool and nothing more – which is what it exactly fits for. I am looking it as a backup for my laptop, but might be in the near future. In India Aspire One sells for almost 2o,000/- rs (413$) which is slightly higher when compared to say America. But still I think its one of the cheapest netbooks in India. MSI Wind, HP MiniNote, Dell Inspiron 9, Lenovo S10 and others have their own competitors in this field giving customers like us a choice.
  2. 3G technology in IndiaI thought this January would be a perfect start for the 3G Era in India but unfortunately and not so new bungling has delayed the 3G Auctions. India – supposed to be one of the leading nations has pathetic internet service according to me so hopefully wireless broadband services like 3G and WiMax can make this scenario much better
  3. Energy SavingI hope people use their gadgets and gizmos efficiently and economically thereby saving your Money and electricity and our Planet. In a place like me town where power cuts range between 2-6 hours a day, I hope more people use energy saving gadgets like CFLs and solar powered gadgets.

Update: here is a nice article on e-waste

What do you think about all this…feel free to post your comments here…..
