So here I am finally switched to a smartphone and that too a Nokia 553o (my friends will be surprised by my choice as I am a avid Sony ericsson fan). The main reason for this being a smartphone within my budget and that being 200$ and with a choice of good softwares. Even though I considered the likes of HTC Touch Viva , HTC Tatoo, Blackberry 8520 what the Nokia 5530 offered me at this price was fantastic atleast on the paper (only time will tell its real world performance)
- Package Contents: The usual stuff along with the phone there was a ear plug type earphones, a very very short usb data cable, travel charger, 4GB micro SDHC card, ovi suite mini dvd
- Looks : The phone is much more visually attractive than its elder brother 5800 with its front metal frame but the finish is not that solid with the battery back cover flimsy as paper and quite flexible too. The lock button, usb port flap and the top button all seems a bit hard for me to access. Anyway it seems to function properly and the phone’s glossy plastic is a finger print night mare
- Phone: The 2.9″ screen was real nice with its 360 x 640 pixel resolution. The call quality was good but the reception was quite jumpy but didnt notice any voice disruptions
- Symbian S60: Since this is my first tryst with Symbian (I’ve read lots of criticism on Nokia’s S60) I found it quite easy to use but still there is a way to go I am fluent with it.
- TouchScreen: Since this is also my first touchscreen phone (and this phone has no hardware keys even the call / answer / menu keys are touch based) it was quite tricky but the resistive touchscreen is quite good and I am easily adapting to it.
More on Nokia 5530 in the coming days…..
