July Jamboree 8520 – Youthful Berry
Aug 04

As you all will probably know most mobile phones use a micro SD card and the latest devices support Micro SDHC cards and sony ericsson uses Memory Stick Micro M2. As my Ideapad doesn’t directly support this, i was forced to use a adapter and there was no access in my home pc which has no media card reader. So I was on the lookout for a portable media card reader and for a while back I was using a el-cheapo chinese portable media card carder (which now is driving me nuts), so when I saw a deal for Kingston Data Traveler Micro Reader (1 GB thumb drive + micro SD/M2 card reader) for 13$ I grabbed it (thanks to my friend Satheesh).

microreaderIt looks like a ordinary thumb drive , but a flap opens at the back to let us insert a micro SD/SDHC/M2 card. The first time I tried inserting my M2 card it was a bit tough (the manual didn’t help much) but it fitted in properly. So while plugging into the USB port, the driver was automatically installed and Vista gave me two drives – One the 1GB flash in the thumb drive and the other the M2 card memory. Transferring files was smooth and easy. Its easy to carry around and can function as two devices in one. And its a nice and useful addition to my gadget & gizmos.
