I’ve already written a post on building a pc way back in 2007, this time my old P4’s motherboard conked out and even a new 865 based motherboard (since my P4 in socket 478) wasn’t able to do the job, i had no option but to replace the heart out of desktop, i.e a processor, motherboard , RAM. And I had the following options,
Option A
AMD X2 5200+ , Asus M2N68 Motherboard, 1 GB 800 Mhz DDR2 Transcend RAM – ->Cost – Rs. 6,100/-
Option B
Intel Dual Core 2.2 Ghz, Asus 945 chipset Motherboard, 1 GB 800 Mhz DDR2 RAM –> Cost – Rs. 6,600/-
I chose Option A, remembering this is my first ever AMD machine. Anyway i was impressed by its specs and the nvidia based shared graphics on the motherboard and also the 3 year warranty for the 3 items. The machine has been up and running for the last 2 weeks with even games like NFS carbon playing smoothly.

Go for AMD. Previously i also have intel 2.66 64bit pro with intel d101ggc mb.
Last month i have upgraded that to AMD 5000 x2+ asus M2N68AM+2gb ddr2 800 mhz ram
u can go for 5200. but take only m2n68am. dont go for m2n68am se2.. to few pci slot and sata port.
consider taking 2gb ram. Transcand 2gb 800 mhz only rs.1100+
