I don’t know how far statistically Indians do online shopping and whether they get any fantastic deals to back them up, but still there are plenty of online stores to compare prices and see whether any offers are available,

  • MobileNxt : This is the newest site I’ve come across, some interesting deals
  • Univercell : Maybe the biggest franchise in south India, updated prices so can be on the money on price drops.
  • WaveTel Mobiles : A Chennai based retailer with various brands of mobilephones and some mp3 players, laptops too.
  • SriVasavi Mobiles: Another chennai based retailer with some good deals.
  • Indiaplaza : A large online retailer with some good deals for mobile phones

Its been more than 1 year when I shifted my blog from Blogger to Wordpress, my initial attraction being purely professional reasons since wordpress had a lot of demand in the market and also to have more technical control of the workings of the blog. After some initial hassles and some bugs midway while upgrading wordpress the ride has been smooth so far. Here are some plug-ins which I found to be useful,

  • Wordpress Automatic Upgrade - According to me a god send, to avoid your upgrading blues
  • Wassup - Track your visitors
  • Feedsmith - Automatically redirects your feeds to feedburner feeds
  • cForms - Create forms to enable visitors contact you from your blog
  • Akismet - To aviod the ever increasing problem of spam in your comments
  • AddThis - A social bookmarking widget to help visitors spread your blog

That’s all in this post, in time i will come back with some more plug-ins and themes to “spice up” your blog further.

I’ve written about the various gprs / edge plans available in my mobile network circle and in India as general in my post here , but in this week my network operator AirTel seems has come out with some new plans. Here are the various plans (kindly note: check whether these plans are available in your telecom circle by contacting the customer care).

  • GPRS 99 - 50MB free for Rs.99/- .Extra 30p for 50 Kb
  • GPRS 199 - 120MB free for Rs. 199/- Extra 20p for 50 Kb
  • GPRS 299 - 200MB free for Rs. 299/- . Extra 15p for 50 Kb.

It is somewhat cheaper than the earlier tariffs, but the speeds at the best can be compared to dial-ups as my town doesn’t have EDGE connectivity, but those in EDGE enabled areas will be better served than those in GPRS areas.

P.S: You can express your views here or vote in the polls to see where mobile internet is headed ?

Nowadays phones equipped with music players & extendible memory are a rage among students, teens and even a ordinary Joe. So when I came across the Nokia 5310 Xpress Music phones I was quitely impressed by what a mid-range music phones these days provide the buyers with,

  • On the spec sheet, this phone is very much similar to Nokia 6300 for which you can read my post here.
  • According to me the phone is quite attractive and stylish with its black carbon like finish with its slim profile and weighing just 71 grams
  • Some of the features which gives its Xpress Music branding are the side mounted multimedia keys to control the music , a 3.5mm headphone jack to plug in your favorite headphones, a capable multimedia player to organize and play your music, a FM radio, bluetooth with A2DP for wireless music.
  • As I mentioned earlier the other things are same as the popular 6300 with its 16M display with resolution of 240 x 320 running on the Series40 platform.
  • But the thing I observed from the phone and from the phone’s owner were that its ringer volume was not loud enough, the phone has certain bugs like it restarts automatically in the middle of a call and it 2 megapixel camera is a gimmick.

People looking for a music phone can try it as its quite well priced at 8,000/- bucks (190$).
